In other news, I feel THE SICKNESS coming on. I used to get sick once a year (with the flu or what have you) but now I get sick twice a year and my second sickness has yet to strike... I was really hoping it wouldn't happen in December but by the looks of things (particularly in the throat region) it's going to happen in the first or second week of December. I don't think that the apartment being 60ish degrees is a good thing for my body. My immune system, what little there is to speak of, gets agitated when it's cold and it's all like "F U WOMAN WE AINT PROTECTING YOU NO MO" and then I get sick. I knew it was bound to happen. BUT, even with the threat of THE SICKNESS coming I still went out in the cold and I still sipped on some delicious JAMBA JUICE! For some reason we aren't turning on the heat. Instead Vince and I wear layer upon layer of clothes and wrap ourselves in blankets to keep warm. I am currently wearing two sweaters (one with a hood), socks, warm PJ bottoms, a hat, a blanket and my hood is over my hat. I guess it's more fun to bundle up and sip on hot tea and milk and pretend like we're suffering without really suffering. It reminds me of how you turn on the AC in the summer but still get under the blanket to keep warm, only now it's in reverse? I dunno.
So Vince was doing stuff last night (he was just going through his closet, you pervs) and I was in his room stalking him on the floor and just plain being in his way when he pulled out some books and among the pile was Into the Wild. So I decided to read it. I'm about half way and it's really interesting! I started watching the movie but I don't feel like it captures the mood of the character, Chris, as well as the book does. In the book the author (Jon Krakauer) talks about other intelligent, seemingly happy and well-to-do guys who one day decide to go into the wilderness and just LIVE. They can't cope with the rules that come with being in modern society, are disgusted by how materialistic and hurtful humans are and so they free themselves and for a while they can be happy. All of the people he wrote about ended up dead, either by the wilderness they sought refuge in or by their own hand. The one thing in common with all the cases mentioned were that they were smart, and it seemed like their knowledge and over analytical minds pretty much drove them mad. They couldn't live blissfully like most of society chooses to. I guess that sort of makes them brave, to be able to fearlessly break out of the mold and choose to live their dreams, even if the road ahead wasn't marked on any map.
Here are some paintings I did for Vince so his room wont be so boring (don't tell him I said that)! The top one is the ocean the bottom one is a tree with purple blossoms. Legend tells of a magical tree with purple flowers that grants wishes. The journey to the tree is treacherous. One must travel by sea for many days and nights until you come across an island. Upon this island is the purple blossom tree. Take one petal and grant a wish, once the wish is granted you will never be able to find the island again. But granting a wish comes at a price... So be wary when you come reach the purple blossom tree and remember that those of noble, pure hearts will have nothing to lose, while those whose minds are consumed with greed and riches will pay a heavy price.
Good night!!
